Being able to speak in their primary language is important to provide safe and effective care. Stratus is like having a team of live interpreters from all over the world available when the patients walk through our doors.
[Stratus Video] is the first time I’ve had this type of interpreter system. I used to have one on speaker phone. This way we can see their face, the patient can see the face of the interpreter, we can create a nice bonding during that encounter so it really facilitates the communication between the patient and the physician.
Prior to the implementation of VRI, we relied on onsite interpreters for deaf/hard-of-hearing patients. Following the VRI implementation, many deaf/hard-of-hearing patient encounters were transitioned to video. By simply moving some interpretation to video, our facility is saving more than 60% of our prior interpretation budget.
